Dancers from across Bromley came together to perform in a youth dance showcase.
The performance took place at Ravens Wood school, Oakley Road, Bromley and the students taking part receieved specialist dance training from Step into Dance, a partnership project between the Royal Academy of Dance and the Jack Petchey Foundation.
The evening was the third in a series of Step into Dance borough events taking place across nine London boroughs in April and May.
Students from ten schools, both mainstream and SEN, participated in the showcase and performed different styles of dance including contemporary and street dance.
Lauren Ottewill, 16, from Ravens Wood School, performed in both a contemporary piece and a street piece with her group. She said: “I’d done dance before but not street dance. I really enjoy it now and it’s something I’d like to do more of. You feel like you can come out of your comfort zone and immerse yourself in something you wouldn’t necessarily have done before.”
Sue Goodman, Step into Dance Artistic and Programme Director, said: “It is always inspirational watching our many SEN schools on the stage. The dancers really enjoy sharing their love of dance which is quite infectious. I think they inspire us all, no matter what age or ability.”
