The event is back by popular demand for its second year

Writers and booklovers are being invited to celebrate their passion for the written word at a Beckenham literary festival.

WORDFest is back for its second year and will feature writing, reading and active workshops for all ages as well as a performance space and craft stalls from local artists.

Youngsters will be able to enjoy the Roald Dahl Children’s Area, while a Pimms Tent, a BBQ Stall, ice cream, jerk chicken, crafts and art will also be provided.

The event’s main stage will feature a finale by a popular local David Bowie tribute band.

Mayor of Bromley Ian Payne is to attend the event and will read out the prize winners for photography, poetry and art competitions.

The festival, which will take place on Saturday (July 16), is being hosted by Harris Academy Beckenham, and money raised will go towards the PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) charity.
