A TEAM of pupils are thrilled to have won a book quiz which included classics written by Jane Austen.

The Y7 youngsters from St Olave's in Goddington Lane, Orpington, beat teams from nine schools to win the 2009 Fully Booked Trophy literature competition.

Cator Park School, in Lennard Road, Beckenham, and Langley Park School for Girls, in Hawksbrook Lane, Beckenham, were close runners-up in the quiz run by Bromley Libraries.

Each school fielded two teams each in the event which included answering questions ranging from Jane Austen to The Very Hungry Caterpillar and had a round on the competition's set book, Just Henry by Michelle Magorian.

Senior librarian for children's services, Kate Farmer, said: "The children's enjoyment of reading is evident in their enthusiasm and their performance in the quiz.
