FIRE crews helped a mentally ill patient who refused to come down from a tree. The woman was eventually coaxed down by staff at Bethlem Royal Hospital, in Monks Orchard Road, Beckenham last Thursday after they called the fire service at around 8.30pm.

Crews from Beckenham and Croydon attended the incident.

The woman, who had not escaped from Bethlem climbed down when fire officers arrived.
