Firefighters have rescued a woman in her 20s after she got stuck in her bedroom when the door’s “bolt seized up”.

Crews from Beckenham Fire Station were called earlier today to Princethorpe Road in Sydenham after the young woman got trapped in her maisonette.

She called the fire brigade as she had “no other of getting out”, according to a spokesman for the station, in Beckenham Road.

He added: “The bedroom door was jarred shut, so we had to break in and rescue her. It took us about 10-15 minutes to get her out, which we managed to do without breaking the front door.”
