A 51-year-old woman has been arrested after a huge cannabis factory was uncovered by police in Beckenham High Street.

The police were tipped off that cannabis was being grown at the location, before raiding the site on March 21.

Several hundred mature plants were found growing within “a very sophisticated” hydroponic set up across two floors of the property.

Police later arrested a woman, from West Wickham, for alleged drug offences.

She was bailed until the end of May pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Gareth Starr said: “I’m really pleased with this result - this was one of the largest crops I have seen and the seizure was a great result for both the team and the people of Beckenham.

“This serves as a message to people thinking they can commit these offences - we will find them and take action. Drugs feed crime and this is something we pride ourselves in stopping.”
