Do you know what's great about your school? If you do, the Kentish Times is offering local children the chance to win a brilliant prize in our latest My School is Great! competition.

We hope that this year's competition will be even more successful than last year's contest when literally hundreds of children sent in entries describing in all sorts of different ways what they liked about their school. So if you are aged 7 to 11 and attend a primary school then this year's My School is Great Competition is for you!

All you have to do to enter is to tell us why you are proud to be a member of your school. Entries can be a poem, story, drawing, collage or captioned photograph but must show us what you think is great about your school.

Tell us about your primary school. Does it have some great teachers?

Are you in a sports team that does well for your school? What is your favourite lesson and why? Do you have some interesting books to read at school? Whatever your reason, let us know and you could win a new computer or games console and get some great publicity for your school at the same time.

Look out for information about the My School is Great! competition in your school. Primary schools in our readership area will shortly receive information packs including entry forms and tips on entering. And don't forget to check out future issues of the Times and our website at to see if your entry has been published. We'll be featuring regular updates on the competition over the coming weeks.

The closing date for entries is Friday, April 4th, 2008 which seems a long time off but don't delay as you'll have more chance of getting your entry published if you send it in early.

Winners and runners-up will be notified and announced in the Times and on our website in April.

How to Enter

To be in with a chance of winning this great prize you must be aged between 7 and 11 and at primary school.

Make your entry as interesting, imaginative and well presented as possible and make sure that it tells us why you think your school is great. There is a maximum word count of 120 words for written entries.

Don't forget to include with your entry: your name, age, address, email if you have one, and telephone details, along with the name of the school you attend and your class.

Do let your school know you have entered the competition. Schools with the most entries will receive a special presentation certificate and will be featured in the Kentish Times.

Send your entries to: My Schools is Great Competition, Kentish Times Newspapers, Roxby House, Station Road, Sidcup, Kent DA15 7EJ
