A West Wickham pub could win £10,000 if it is deemed as having one of the best atmospheres in the country to watch the World Cup.

Fans at The Swan, in High Street have been raising the roof when watching the football on the big screen - and it is currently top of the list of pubs taking part.

The official beer of the World Cup in Russia recently launched a search for the King of Pubs – essentially the pubs with the best football-watching atmospheres during the tournament.

The American beer company will be measuring cheering and fan elation levels - using decibel equipment - in selected pubs.

The venue that eventually comes out on top as the most euphoric will be awarded Budweiser’s £10,000 Pub Futures grant, allowing them to invest into the future of the pub and its football-loving community.

There is a live leaderboard measuring crowd decibels - which is updated after every game - and at the moment The Swan is currently at the top of the list.
