A West Wickham fundraiser will swap home comforts to experience life without clean water and sanitation in India later this month.

Richard Allison, 55, who works for South East Water, will join 11 other charitable travellers on the journey with international charity WaterAid.

He will stay with a family in the Madhya Padesh region, visiting local schools and sitting in on hygiene education sessions that could save lives.

He said: “It’s shocking that 2,000 children die every day from diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation.

“This trip is a chance for me to see for myself the work that WaterAid is doing to change this and I hope to use my experiences to inspire even more people at South East Water to get involved and raise funds for this vital cause.”
