Around 40 Bromley houses have been damaged by flooding

The storm last night caused chaos in Bromley, flooding around 40 houses in Magpie Hall Lane, Bromley.

The river Ravensbourne, next to St Luke’s cemetery in Magpie Hall Lane, burst and flooded into the streets and houses.

Fire services were called at around 9pm ad been called throughout the night and a spokesperson says it was like “Armageddon”.

Equipment lorries from Sutton and Ley Green arrived with around 100 sandbags to help divert water, but the dam broke and three to four inches of water entered people’s homes.

The extent of the damage is yet to be known.
