Temporary traffic lights are in place

Disruption on Penge roads is expected to last into next week following a number of gas leaks.

SGN carried out emergency repairs in the High Street at the junction of Croydon Road, Green Lane.

Now work is complete, the road surface needs to be repaired.

The concrete base for the road is expected to take one to two days to set, before tarmac can be relaid.

A SGN spokesperson said: “We’re carrying out emergency repairs to our gas main in the A234 High Street, Penge. We’re working in the High Street at its junction with Green Lane. We’ve completed our repairs on the A213 Croydon Road side of the junction and restored the road surface.

“We’ve now moved our work area to the opposite side of the junction to carry out further repairs.

“To ensure everyone’s safety as we work in the road, the four-way temporary traffic lights will remain in place in the High Street at its junction with Green Lane and Croydon Road.”

Bromley council expects the work to be complete early next week, at which point the traffic lights will be removed.
