Private William Kitchener Howell’s name will be unveiled on Friday

A SOLDIER whose name was left off Bromley’s War Memorial will finally be recognised with a special ceremony tomorrow (Friday).

Relatives from as far away as Australia are gathering to remember Private William Kitchener Howell and see the memorial, now with his name added, unveiled by Deputy Mayor of Bromley Alan Collins.

Private Howell was a member of the SAS and was killed in action in Italy 72 years ago tomorrow, just days before the Italian Armistice.

The ceremony will take place at the memorial (above) in Martin’s Hill, Church Road, at 11.10am.
