THREE of the borough's parks have been shortlisted to receive £400,000 for improvements.

Penge parks, which include Betts Park, Royston Field and Penge Recreation Ground will all benefit if Penge Parks wins a grant from London Mayor Boris Johnson.

Plans include new play facilities for smaller children at Royston Rec, an adventure play for older children at Penge Rec, a BMX or skateboard park and outdoor gym at Betts Park, biodiversity improvements to the Betts canal and new plants and shrubbery.

Some 47 parks are on the list, which a public vote will whittle down to 10.

In addition to the £400,000, one park chosen by Mr Johnson will win a £2 million grant.

The money will be paid out over a four year period and voting ends in January. To vote go to www.london.gov.uk/parksvote/region/southeast.
