The service is free for residents

A service designed for people struggling to make a trip to their local library is helping bring the wonder of books to residents’ homes.

The initiative from Bromley Libraries means Royal Voluntary Service Volunteers are starting to make monthly visits to people’s homes to drop off books and audio books which have been specially chosen according to each person’s tastes.

To sign up for the service, residents can contact their local library within the borough, which will send a volunteer to their home to discuss what material they’d like brought to their door each month.

A spokesperson from the scheme said: “We will always let you know exactly what day we will be calling each month and there is usually time for a chat with our friendly volunteer too.”

The free service is available for all residents.
