The Wanted’s Tom Parker made a surprise appearance at the Petts Wood Christmas lights switch-on this weekend, performing on stage with a local theatre school.
Chart-topper Tom, who has three top 10 albums and two number one singles under his belt, joined John Riley, chairman of Petts Wood business association, to switch on the lights in Station Square on Saturday afternoon.
He took on Wizzard’s classic I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day alongside children from K2K Stars, who meet on Wednesday afternoons at Crofton Junior School, in Towncourt Lane, Orpington.
Elsewhere, Bromley town centre was taken over by Santa’s dashing through the street in aid of charity.
More than 700 runners took part in the 2k Santa Dash, finishing in Bromley High Street in time to make their way over to Market Square and see the stars of this year’s panto switch on the Christmas lights.
There was also carol singing, a festive parade and a spectacular fireworks display from the roof of Bonmarche.
Cllr Peter Morgan, executive councillor for renewal and recreation, said: “The Santa dash, fireworks and festive entertainment in Bromley town centre provided a spectacular day for everyone who braved the cold to enjoy their town and have fun with their families.
“Don’t forget about visiting the Christmas market while you’re doing your Christmas shopping in Bromley to pick up treats for your loved ones this year.”
