Students at Bromley High Junior School were runners-up in the People’s Choice category at the 140th Anniversary Girls’ Day School Trust film competition last week.

The Year 5 class, based in Blackbrook Lane, Bickley, collected a certificate after submitting Emma’s First Day, a short based around the theme of friendship.

Winners were announced at an exclusive screening at the Curzon Cinema, in Soho, having been selected by Oscar winning costume designer Jenny Beavan and Neal Street Productions founder, Pippa Harris.

Head teacher, Claire Dickerson, said: “There was an excited atmosphere in the Curzon cinema as girls from Year 2 to Year 13 from many different GDST schools eagerly awaited the results.

“At Bromley High Juniors we were delighted to be awarded runner up in the Peoples’ Choice award in the Junior category and would like to thank all those who voted for Emma’s First Day. Congratulations to our Year 5 girls on this wonderful achievement.”

The school’s seniors also submitted an effort called Confidence is Key, produced by three Year 7 pupils.
