IN the last six weeks, more than a third of all vehicles stolen in Bromley were motorcycles or scooters - 41 out of a total of 111 thefts between September 1 and October 14.

Theft hotspots in the borough are Penge, Anerley, Eden Park, Hayes, Bickley and Bromley Common usually taking place in the evening or overnight.

Police advise motorcycle owners to use a combination of mechanical and electronic security systems such as engine immobilisers. Bike owners should also test their security, use devices that are approved by Thatcham or Sold Secure and have them professionally fitted.

Motorcycles can also be marked with a postcode.
