Work on the £435,000 upgrade of Orpington station began this week.

Building work on a brand new booking hall on platform one started on Monday, which will see two accessible ticket office windows, as well as a heated waiting room planned for platform two.

A Southeastern spokesman said: “We’re creating a much more spacious booking hall with a queuing system which will improve the ticket purchasing experience, especially during peak periods.”
