Some visiting restrictions remain in place

All wards are back open at Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) following an outbreak of norovirus.

The hospital took the decision to close all adult wards and restrict visitors to children’s wards on Monday, November 14, when PRUH was hit by its third outbreak this year.

But yesterday officials announced they had reopened the wards - although some restrictions remain in place.

A maximum of two visitors are being allowed to visit a patient at any one time, and this is limited to close family and friends only.

Visits from children, immuno-compromised people and those who have experienced symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting during the last three days are not currently permitted.

The hospital has requested that visitors wash their hands on entering and leaving the ward, and when entering and leaving the main hospital.
