The fire has been extinguished but smoke remains

A string of problems on Southeastern services have caused problems for passengers today (Monday)

Rush hour commuters faced delays after a fire broke out at the side of a track near Petts Wood.

The blaze was extinguished but smoke in the area meant some trains were unable to run.

Now signalling problems and a broken down train near Orpington are piling on the misery for passengers.

Southeastern has warned passengers they may face delays or diversions.

A spokesperson from the train operator said: “Following an earlier broken down train, a signalling problem, and an earlier lineside fire in the Orpington area, all lines have now reopened.

Trains on all routes via Orpington may still be delayed, cancelled or terminated early whilst we recover the service. This will extend some time to your journey.

The disruption is expected to last until 5pm.
