UPDATE: Man pulled from house fire dies in hospital

The cause of the fire on Downham Way is under investigation

A Bromley man who was pulled from a house fire last week has now died in hospital.

A total of 21 firefighters from Bromley, Eltham and Sidcup fire stations were called to the scene on Downham Way in four fire engines on Thursday at 10.58am.

The blaze was under control by 11.36am after the man had been rescued via an internal staircase.

He was suffering from smoke inhalation and treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews before dying as a result of his injuries the following day.

Part of the first floor flat was damaged by fire - the cause of which is under investigation.
