UPDATE: Five adults and a child escape unharmed from Mottingham blaze

Four fire engines were on scene

Six people managed to escape a fire at a row of terraced houses unharmed on Friday.

Part of the roof of one of the houses in Shrubsall Close in Mottingham was damaged in the blaze, which started at around 11.50am.

London Fire Brigade sent 20 firefighters in four fire engines to tackle the blaze.

Before crews had arrived, five adults and one child had managed to escape the property unharmed.

Crews from Bromley, Eltham, Lee Green and Lewisham brought the fire under control just after 1pm.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
