UPDATE: Delays throughout rush hour on anticlockwise M25 as lorry fire closes slip road

Motorist are set to face delays into this evening after a lorry burst into flames on the M25.

The blaze has shut the entry slip for junction 4 (Orpington) heading anticlockwise.

Highways England has advised motorsts to plan ahead when driving through the area.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene just before 1.45pm.

Two fire engines carrying a bulk water carrier were called to scene, where firefighters managed to douse the flames within an hour.

The scene was made safe by 2.40pm.

According to Highways England’s traffic website, traffic is now not expected to clear until 8.45pm at the earliest.

Vehicle recovery is currently at the scene trying to remove the burnt-out lorry.
