No arrests were made

Metropolitan Police has revealed that allegations it received of attempted abductions in Penge last month were false.

Local schools had issued letters warning parents in June.

Police had claimed at the time that it was investigating reports of attempted abductions in Penge Lane on June 21 and 22.

Speaking today (Tuesday), a spokesperson said: “Police in Bromley were investigating two reports of attempted abduction which allegedly took place on June 21 and June 22 in Penge Lane.

“Enquiries have established that this was a false allegation and this matter has now been closed.

“No arrests were made in relation to this investigation.”
