WORKERS at a waste site were evacuated after an unexploded World War II bomb was found.

The 3ins by 15ins shell was found sticking out of a pile of aggregate at the Tintagel House Port Waste Transfer Station in Cornwall Drive, Orpington at 12.42pm last Friday.

Workers were evacuated from the site near Kemnal Technology College and the bomb squad were called to disarm and remove the bomb.

The site was declared safe by 1.42pm and workers returned to the site.
