Number of people on Jobseekers Allowance drops by nearly 30 per cent over the past year

New figures released show Orpington’s unemployment rate has continued to drop.

The number of Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) claimants has dropped to 452, 188 lower than September last year.

The drop in figures puts Orpington in the top 125 constituencies in the country for economic activities.

There has also been a significant drop in the number of young people claiming JSA.

Orpington MP Jo Johnson said: “I welcome another drastic fall in youth unemployment, which is now at its lowest level for a decade, and will see more young people working hard to develop their skills into the future.”
