Two teenagers are in police custody after witnesses reported seeing a man with “a huge machete” near Petts Wood train station on Tuesday.

Just after 6pm, police stopped two boys in a vehicle near the station off Queensway.

A spokesperson from Met Police said: “Two 17-year-old males were subsequently arrested, one on suspicion of a drug related offence and another for possession of an offence weapon.

“They are currently in custody at a south London police station.

“The arrests that were made have no connection to any terrorist activity or investigation.”

Footage from the scene appeared to show three plain-clothed police officers escorting a tall man next to nearby railway tracks.

The tall man appeared to be handcuffed and was being led away from the tracks by the trio.
