Two men remain in custody.

Police were called to reports of a number of men breaking into a Ford Transit van in Sherborne Road, St Mary Cary, at 1.30am on Tuesday (January 6).

The suspects left the scene in a Ford Focus as officers arrived and after a short pursuit they abandoned the vehicle in Star Lane and fled.

Officers, with the assistance of the Air Support Unit and Dog Unit, found two suspects hiding in a nearby overgrown area.

They were arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and a quantity of stolen tools were recovered from the vehicle.

Two men, aged 28 and 25, remain in custody at a south London police station.
