Tories hold Beckenham

THE Conservatives have held Beckenham.

THE Conservatives have held Beckenham

Bob Stewart, the Conservative candidate, received 27,597 votes, with 57.9 per cent of the votes.

Steve Jenkins, from the Liberal Democrats received 9,813, and Damien Egan, Labour, received 6,893 votes.

Mr Stewart said: "I am feeling numb because this is a momentous time for me.

"I will do my very best, and I am delighted because I really like the area and the people, and I already feel very much at home here."

Other candidate results: Owen Brolly, UKIP, 1,551, Roger Tonks, BNP, 1,001, Ann Garrett, Green, 608, and Dan Eastgate, English Democrats, 223.
