AN MP was handed a petition signed by thousand of patients fighting against polyclinics and the privatisation of doctors' surgeries.

MP John Horam was presented with a Keep My NHS GP Local petition by representatives from four Orpington practices - Ballater, Knoll Rise, Poverest and Crescent Surgery.

More than 4,000 patients signed the petition against relocating their GPs to a single site including members of other surgeries in the borough.

Dr James Heathcote, Medical Secretary of Bromley Local Medical Committee said: "This petition shows that patients want to keep their NHS GP local and are against single-site polyclinics, surgery relocation and privatisation.

"We hope to continue working with Bromley Primary Care Trust to ensure that the needs and concerns of patients, GPs and practice teams are fully considered before any changes to GP services are made.
