The winner will be announced in October

An Orpington mum is hoping her love for horses will shine through as she bids to become win groom of the year.

Zoe Barleycorn has been nominated as a finalist in the Absorbine Professional Groom of the Year awards, and is hoping to be announced as winner in October this year.

The 31-year-old has worked as a rider and groom since leaving school and is currently working as a full time groom in East Grinstead.

She said: “My duties at work involve preparing the horses and ponies at home for the showring, grooming at shows and plenty of schooling and backing and breaking in. I love seeing the horses we have broken in going on to their first shows and watching their careers progress.”

Ahead of the awards’ gala dinner on October, the mother to four-year-old Jessie needs votes to wow the judges.
