It went for auction last week
Investors and would-be developers clambered over one another to pay over-the-odds for a plot of land in Chislehurst last week.
The green-plot, surrounded by large houses in Denbridge Road, was expected to sell for no more than £25,000 when it went up for sale with Clive Emson auctioneers.
But once the auction got underway, a bidding war ensued and it wasn’t until the price soared to £420,000 that auctioner Ben Snelling banged his gavel to end the bidding.
Thus far, the succesful bidder has remained anonymous.
The professional auctioneer said: “Clearly the potential of this site encouraged builders, developers and investors.
“It also demonstrates the health of the market, before any work is carried out, the necessary consents must have been obtained.”
The auction took place recently at The Clive Emson Conference Centre at the Kent County Showground in Detling, Maidstone.
