Police are appealing for information

A ten-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted while cycling with her friend in Mottingham.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which took place at around 3.30pm on Sunday, July 17 at Mottingham Sports Ground, known locally as Foxes Fields, on Court Farm Road, SE9.

The victim was cycling with an 11-year-old female friend in a wooded area when they saw a man coming towards them.

She got off her bike and the man then ran towards her and grabbed her, sexually assaulting her.

After she pushed him away, the man ran off in the direction of Dunkery Road.

The attacker is described as white, around 5ft 9in tall and aged in his mid-30s to 40. He was wearing a blue cap and a grey Ralph Lauren T-shirt with shorts.

Detective constable Kelly Cretten, from Bromley CID, said: “This was clearly a very distressing and scary incident for a ten-year-old girl and we are keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone who recognises the description of the suspect.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 07818 454470 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
