Police investigating after desperate fight to save victim fails

A 17-year-old boy has been killed after being stabbed multiple times in a park in Penge last night (Thursday).

Police were called to Betts Park at just after 7.20pm after reports of an attack.

When police arrived, they found the boy with multiple stab wounds.

Officers administered first aid before colleagues from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance arrived at the scene.

Despite efforts to revive the victim, he was pronounced dead at the scene just after 8.15pm.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed. Formal identification awaits.

A post-mortem examination will be held at the Princess Royal University later today.

Detectives from the Met’s homicide and major crime command (HMCC) are investigating.
