POLICE were injured in a violent brawl that broke out when students were barred from a packed bus.

More than 40 Orpington College students were waiting for a 51 bus outside Boots in Orpington High Street at 5.30pm on Tuesday when the clash occurred.

Police claimed the driver had only let on about 15 students, and despite being told by a PCSO they would have to wait for the next bus, students started to kick the doors and press the emergency button.

Officers cordoned off the High Street until 6.30pm and arrested seven students.

A17-year-old boy from Dartford was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and assault on police. An 18-year-old woman from Belvedere was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

A teenage boy from Greenwich was also arrested.

Six of the suspects have been bailed to return to Bromley Police Station between December 7 and 9.

An 18-year-old woman from Greenwich has been issued with a penalty notice for disorder.

A police spokesman said: "The 25-year old male PCSO sustained a cut above his left eye and was taken by LAS to a south London hospital.

"Two other police officers were also struck during the incident."

Yesterday the High Street was patrolled by approximately 40 police officers and PCSOs when teenagers left the college. No trouble was reported.
