St Paul’s Cray man attacked with hammer whilst opening newsagents

A man was allegedly attacked with a hammer by a group of men as he opened a St Paul’s Cray newsagents on Friday morning.

Police were called to reports of a robbery at the shop, in Cray Parade, just before 6am.

A 63-year-old man was reportedly assaulted by three males using a hammer type object.

The victim was taken to Princess Royal University Hospital, in Farnborough Common, where he was treated for minor injuries.

His keys were taken by the men, who fled the scene. No other propery was taken.

Police say enquiries are ongoing, though no arrests have been made.
