Burglars caught attempting to flee the scene of a St Mary Cray break-in have been sentenced.

Shefron Tulloch, 26, of Stonecross Road, Hatfield, pleaded guilty to burglary at Croydon Crown Court and was handed a 10 month prison sentence, suspended for a year, on August 2.

A 14-year-old male youth, from St Mary Cray, previously pleaded guilty to burglary at Bromley Magistrates Court on June 11 and was referred to the Bromley Youth Offender Panel for nine months.

On June 9 at around 7pm, officers were alerted to a burglary in progress in Crockenhill Road, in St Mary Cray.

Tulloch and the youth were spotted climbing over a side gate and leaving the property, and were later caught after a foot chase.

A large amount of jewellery was found on the suspects when arrested, as well as discarded in gardens they had run through in an attempt to escape.

Tulloch was also required to carry out 200 hours unpaid community work as part of his sentence.
