YOUNGSTERS got the chance to cook up a treat this week with the arrival of a supermarket 'food pod'.

The food education drive from Waitrose was brought to Bromley South on Tuesday to give children lessons in food preparation and cooking.

Over 200 children were expected to visit the pod which was due to stay open until today (27) to get hands-on lessons in where their food comes from and how to enjoy a balanced diet.

Dishes from Savoury Puff Slices to St Clements cheesecake were prepared by the children with tutor, Rosemary Scott.

Waitrose Bromley South Branch Manager, Melvin Macdonald, said: "The Food Pod is a great experience for children, who really get to discover and enjoy the benefits of good food.
