Two sisters, including a member of police staff, have been jailed for assaulting a couple in their Beckenham home with a baseball bat.
Norma Crawford, 47, who works for Specialist Operations and Margery Wilson, 45, of Borkwood Park, Orpington, were both jailed for two years for ABH at Croydon Crown Court on Friday (June 28).
Police were called to an address in Southlands Avenue at around 2am on October 7 of last year after allegations that a group of people had entered the property and assaulted the two occupants - a 47-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman - with a baseball bat.
The female victim was struck with the bat, causing her to fall to the floor before being kicked. The male victim received a blow to the back of his head from the bat during the struggle and both required hospital treatment.
The woman who was assaulted and Wilson were known to each other, having previously been good friends, but there had been a falling out over a number of incidents in the past.
On the night of the assault they were both in the Bridge Bar in Beckenham and had an altercation before both were evicted from the bar.
Two other suspects - a 16-year-old boy and a 15 year-old-girl - arrested in connection with the incident were later released without charge.
