A couple from Shortlands are set to tie the knot next month - on the same day as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Andy Lloyd and Gina Pricop, who have been together for four years, got engaged in June 2017 and set the date of May 19 back in August, three months before the prince and his fiance, American actress Meghan, announced that they would be wed on the same day.
Speaking about the royals, Andy said: “My brother was born on the same day as Prince William, and I am around the same age as Prince Harry, so I’ve always had quite an interest in their lives.”
Andy, 34, was originally from Wolverhampton before he moved to Bromley, and 29-year-old Gina is from Romania, and had moved to London to start travelling before she met Andy.
Talking about their love-at-first-sight meeting, Andy added: “It was very romantic - we met at a pub.
“Gina was living with one of my colleagues in a shared house - I wasn’t confident enough to ask my friend for her number but we ended up seeing each other more.
“Now when we talk about our initial meeting we realise we both felt the same way.”
Andy proposed to Gina while they were visiting her grandmother in Romania, who wasn’t able to travel to see them.
Gina said: “Everyone had presumed he would propose while we were exploring different parts of the world together but instead he did it whilst visiting my grandmother.
“I started crying and then my grandmother was standing there asking what was going on - when we told her she started crying too.”
Gina moved to London on the same year as the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and was in the crowd of spectators on the day.
Andy said that their guests won’t have to miss out on watching the much-anticipated union of the royal couple, which will be shown live on TV before their own wedding starts in the afternoon.
The couple are to marry in Bromley and will be going to a local pub afterwards with friends and family, before heading to a villa in Italy together.
