TWO mums have organised a two-day shopping extravaganza in a bid to fight the recession.

Tracey Barker-Reeves, from Orpington and Tina Green, from Kent, have organised the Shopping Experience next month to give a boost to recession-struck retailers.

Over 10,000 shoppers are expected to attend the event at Kent Showground in Maidstone on May 16 and 17.

Ms Barker-Reeves said: "Many smaller businesses cannot afford high street premises, but the Shopping Experience will give them the opportunity to create their own shop front for thousands of potential customers over one weekend, amongst other like-minded traders."

Ms Green added: "We hope to create opportunities for small business during the difficult economic environment and increase their chances of survival."

Entry is £2 or free for under 16s and OAPs with entertainment set to include performances from entertainers and Kent schools.
