Seven people had to be evacuated from their homes after a fire in Bromley High Street yesterday afternoon.

Around 20 firefighters from as far away as Croydon and Lewisham were called after the fire started in a bar at around 12.50pm.

Seven people had to be evacuated from the flats above the bar, but no-one was hurt, although the fire damaged part of the ground floor and the basement.

Fire crews left the scene around an hour later. The cause of the fire is unknown.
