A SCHOOLBOY was taken to hospital after being savaged by a dog.

The 11-year-old boy was attacked by the two-year old Bullmastiff in a park behind Sainsbury's in Franklin Road, Penge, at about 4pm last Friday.

He was taken to Lewisham Hospital where he was treated for deep lacerations to his right arm and right lower leg, which needed stitches.

Gillian Murray, 24, of Frant Close, Penge was arrested at the scene and was later charged with allowing a dog to be out of control in a public place. She is bailed to appear at Bromley Magistrates Court on May 18.

The dog was seized by police and it will be destroyed.
