A CHARITY is searching for a volunteer to help people hit by the recession.

Bromley and Orpington Samaritans needs someone to handle public relations to ensure that they reach out to anyone anxious about the current economic climate.

Chairman Roy Sutton said: "People have more pressures on them now than ever before. If people don't have a good support structure around them they could be finding life difficult. In particular, young people may feel like this, as well as people who may be new to the area.

"It is essential we increase awareness of the support Samaritans offers to everyone and make sure that if anyone is struggling to cope with life then they know where support can be found."

Director Ted Venables added: "It is important that we are able to reach out to everyone in need of emotional support.

"Therefore we need a volunteer with publicity and public relations know-how who can spare a little time each month to help us increase our visibility in the community.

"If someone wants to use their skills to make a real difference to people's lives then they will find the work enormously rewarding."
