A BAND made it to the top 25 of a national competition to support V.V Brown on tour.

Scarletts Roses battled it out with four other groups from the South East last Friday at Camden's Barfly in the hope of being the indie star's support act.

But the four-piece band, whose members come from Beckenham, West Wickham and Hayes, was pipped to the post by east London group The Stow.

Singer Ryan Smith, 24, of South Eden Road, Beckenham, said: "It was amazing, we felt like we played the best gig of our lives. Winning wasn't important after that.

"We're going to keep writing, we're doing lots of gigs at the moment. We want to play everywhere."

The bad played in the Metro and Nissan QASHQAI competition, On-line and On-Tour.
