Assault rifle spotted during ten-man fight

A rocket launcher, an AK47-style rifle and a Second World War machine gun were seized by police yesterday after a brawl in Bromley.

Police were called to East Street at around 4.30am after CCTV operators saw a fight involving around 10 men, one of whom appeared to be a carrying an assault rifle.

The group ran off when police arrived, but one of the men was tracked on CCTV to an address in the Market Square

There, police arrested five men and seized the three weapons, although they were all found to be incapable of firing.

Two of the men, aged 32 and 41, were taken into custody at a south London police station on suspicion of firearms offences, where they remain. The other three are no longer under arrest.
