A SHOPPER was put in a chokehold when three men tried to rob him as he was returning home.

The 50-year-old man was walking along Pickhurst Lane, West Wickham, at about 9.30pm when he was approached by three men, one of whom grabbed him from behind.

He was held by the throat as one shouted: "Give me your wallet." The victim struggled and the suspect holding him fell down.

A car drove past and then did a u-turn, causing the robbers to flee empty handed. Bromley police would like to speak to the driver of this car as a witness to the attempted robbery on August 19.

There is no description of the first suspect as he was holding the victim from behind. The second suspect is mixed raced, in his late teens, about 5ft 10in tall, slim and was wearing a light coloured T-shirt and jeans. He was clean shaven and spoke with a London accent. The third suspect is white, in his late teens, slim and was wearing a T-shirt.

Anyone with information can contact DC Chris Roffe at Bromley police's robbery squad on 020 8284 9969 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
