A Bromley school is under investigation by an exam board over allegations of malpractice regarding coursework.

Ravens Wood School, in Oakley Road, is being looked into by EdExcel - though the details of the allegations remain unconfirmed.

Pearson, the parent company of EdExcel, confirmed the school is being investigated. A spokesman said: “I can confirm that Ravens Wood School is currently being investigated.

“We can’t comment on any individual circumstances whilst they are still under investigation, however we take any allegation of malpractice extremely seriously and will always take appropriate action, in the interests of fairness for all learners, when such incidents are discovered.”

Last week the school, formerly attended by David Bowie, revealed that its executive principal Professor Sir George Berwick will retire next month - he received his knighthood earlier this year for services to education.

Ravens Wood have been contacted, and we await the release of a statement this afternoon.
