THE family of a man who was kidnapped in Ukraine have paid a ransom for his safe return home.

Eren Parker, 25, from Penge, was reported missing in Odessa on April 9 and was missing for a week.

His family paid kidnappers a ransom worth £10, 800 ($16,000) for the waiter's safe return.

His cousin, Erol Kesen, told reporters he was kidnapped by a gang after he left a casino. He added: "Eren said he went there on the last night of his holiday and when he left to go back to his hotel, a van pulled up and three or four people got out. One of them stunned him with a Taser and they bundled him in the back of the van." It is believed he was held in a garage before being moved to a flat in the city. The gang originally had demanded 60,000 US dollars. He was released last Thursday.
