Hillside Primary School opened the ‘Hillside Hub’ on last week

Orpington MP Jo Johnson was in attendance to open an Orpington primary school’s latest learning facility.

On Friday, November 20, the ‘Hillside Hub’ was opened at Hillside Primary School.

The new facility will act as a centre for science and art for pupils of the school in Dyke Drive.

The complex was created following the refurbishment of a former pre-school, and now holds a science and art studio, a kitchenette, laundry and a meeting room.

The hub will also host an after school club.

Mr Johnson said: “I was impressed to hear of the progress that the school is making under the new Headmaster, Mr Smith.

“Whilst I understand that there is still some work to be done, it is developments such as this that prove Hillside is headed in the right direction.”

During the visit, Jo was greeted at the reception by the school’s Junior Leadership Team, a group of children who have been elected by their peers during ‘democracy week’.
